National Independent Soccer Association Introduces Atlanta Ownership Group

Mar 19, 2019
Trey Brantley and Southfund Partners to run Atlanta club in the newest soccer league in America

With five months before the opening of the inaugural season, the National Independent Soccer Association is excited to officially announce Trey Brantley and Southfund Partners as the new owners of NISA’s Atlanta club. This strategic partnership provides the Atlanta market a dynamic group of soccer professionals skilled in development, marketing and community involvement.

“We are thankful to NISA for the opportunity to build a world-class soccer club that is built differently and captures the Atlanta vibe,” said Trey Brantley. “Atlanta is a diverse market and we hope to attract soccer fans from all around the Perimeter.”

The Atlanta club and NISA will operate on an open, international model and function quite differently – both on and off the pitch – from other American professional soccer and is the newest sanctioned league by the United States Soccer Federation.

“We are thrilled to have a tremendous soccer city like Atlanta and seasoned owners in Trey Brantley and Southfund Partners,” said NISA President Bob Watkins. “We believe in Atlanta and we know that our ‘new’ approach to professional soccer and their leadership will resonate with the fans in this great city.”

The Atlanta team will be announcing their name, colors and more in the coming weeks according to Mr. Brantley.

Watkins concluded, “NISA is excited by our recent provisional sanctioning from the United States Soccer Federation and we know Trey, Southfund and Atlanta will be a strong foundational cornerstone for the League for years to come."

About NISA

NISA is an American professional soccer league. Owned by its member clubs, NISA seeks to establish an affordable and sustainable lower division league.

NISA has been provisionally sanctioned by the sport’s governing body, the United States Soccer Federation and expects to begin play in August of 2019.

Unlike other American soccer leagues, NISA will play a fall-to-spring season with a winter break, allowing time off during the difficult weather of December & January. This integrates NISA clubs into the worldwide game by facilitating seamless scheduling with clubs throughout the world and allowing full participation in the international transfer market.

NISA is headquartered in San Diego, California.
