2020 NISA Fall Tournament Locks in on Detroit

Sep 11, 2020

Matches to Be Held at Historic Keyworth Stadium Sept 21-Oct 2

CHICAGO (September 11, 2020) – The National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) today announced the 2020 NISA Fall Tournament will be played in Detroit beginning September 21 crowning a champion on October 2. Matches will take place at historic Keyworth Stadium, home to Detroit City FC. The clubs will be seeded at the conclusion of the fall season and broken into two groups of four clubs each.

The tournament also launches NISA’s recently announced partnership with beIN SPORTS. Although the tournament will be played behind closed doors due to the COVID pandemic, matches will be aired in the U.S. and Canada on beIN SPORTS XTRA – the network’s free, 24/7 English-language live sports channel.

"In what has been a difficult year for everyone that enjoys the beautiful game, the 2020 NISA Fall Tournament will be a true celebration for fans of independent soccer,” says NISA Commissioner John Prutch. “I want to thank NISA's Board of Governors, the clubs and the league staff for all the work that went into making this a reality."

The competition will consist of a round robin format followed by semi-finals games and concluding with a championship match. The 2020 Fall Tournament champion will then host the Spring 2021 champion to determine NISA's 2020/21 season champion.

Keyworth Stadium was the first Works Progress Administration project in the state of Michigan and was opened by former president Franklin Delano Roosevelt on October 15, 1936. Detroit City FC led a community investment campaign to renovate the stadium in 2016 ahead of their residency.

Games will be available via mobile device or tablet on beIN SPORTS XTRA, available in the U.S. and Canada on The Roku Channel, Samsung TV Plus (1163), and XUMO TV (746), and additionally in the U.S. on Pluto TV, Redbox, Tivo, and over-the-air stations in Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas – Fort Worth, Houston, San Jose – San Francisco – Oakland, Atlanta, Miami – Fort Lauderdale, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Hartford, Columbus, Las Vegas, and Austin, among others.

Select matches also will air on the network’s streaming platform, beIN SPORTS CONNECT, available in the U.S. to authenticated subscribers via traditional and OTT providers including Charter, Dish, SlingTV, Verizon Fios, Cox, FuboTV, Liberty, Fanatiz, Mediacom, RCN, Atlantic Broadband, VIDGO, and Claro TV, among others.

More details will be released at the conclusion of the fall schedule.
